Call for young Neolaredenses between 15 and 30 years
Nuevo Laredo, Tam. February 14, 2014 — In order to give youth a voice and a place where they can share their ideas, both to improve their community and the relationship between the US and Mexico, the Consulate General of the USA in New Laredo is launching the call for neolaredenses youth between 15 and 30 years of age who wish to participate in this diplomatic representation through a Youth Council.
The Youth Council of the US Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo is a youth group that meets monthly to discuss issues and participate in volunteer activities. The council offers its participants the opportunity to:
a) Share your thoughts and contribute to a dialogue about issues that are important for the US and Mexico
b) Develop and participate in programs of the Consulate General and the community to promote civil society and violence prevention
c) Learn about the programs of international educational exchange and the Consulate.
We invite young people between 15 and 30 years of age (age at March 10, 2014), interested in joining the Youth Council to send your request via email to: AmConNuevoLaredo_PD@state.gov before March 10 2014 , including the following information:
- Full name
- Date and place of birth
- Current school or employment position
- Residence city
- Phone number
- Reason (a paragraph stating why you want to participate in the Youth Council)
An internal committee formed by US officials and local staff of the Consulate is responsible for choosing twelve candidates to be invited to participate in the Youth Council. Young people who are selected to serve on the Council will be notified by telephone or email during the week from 20 to 28 March 2014 and thereafter new members will be announced through social networks Consulate.
The new Youth Council members will join the existing members of it and be part of the Council for a period of two years.
