Weather Alert

Location:  Mexican States of Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán

Hurricane Rick is forecast to be a major hurricane when it reaches the coast of southern Mexico on Sunday night or Monday, October 25, 2021.  A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero to Punta San Telmo, Michoacan.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for east of Tecpan de Galeana to Acapulco, Guerrero and west of Punta San Telmo to Manzanillo, Colima.  Heavy rains, strong winds, and heavy surf are expected, which could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides.  A storm surge is expected to produce significant coastal flooding near and to the east of where the center of Rick makes landfall in southwestern Mexico.  Swells generated by Rick will begin to affect portions of the southwestern coast of Mexico beginning by late Saturday and are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
