Weather Alert – U.S. Consulate General Merida, Mexico

Event:  The center of Hurricane Delta has moved north of the Yucatan Peninsula.  Cancun International Airport and Cozumel International Airport have reopened and the Merida International Airport remains operational.  To prevent excessive congestion, airport authorities request only travelers with confirmed flights go to the airports at this time.  Passenger ferry service between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen remains suspended at present.  Heavy rain across the northern portions of Quintana Roo and Yucatan states remains possible, which could cause life-threatening flash floods and landslides.  Heavy surf is still likely, particularly across the northern shore of Quintana Roo and Yucatan states.
