Applicants should expect a longer-than-normal wait time for this service and plan accordingly. Applicants applying in the same visa class and whose previous visa expired within the last 48 months

If applicants have an urgent need for travel, they may request an emergency appointment by following the guidance found at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-mx/niv/information/faqs#need_earlier_appt 

Routine appointments for applicants not ordinarily resident in Mexico are not available at this time.  Any applicant currently residing in the United States who seeks to extend their legal stay should contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services at this link (https://www.uscis.gov/visit-the-united-states/extend-your-stay).      

For immigrant visa applicants, the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez has resumed very limited routine immigrant visa processing, beginning with spouses, children, and fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens whose appointments were canceled in March and April 2020.  Immigrant visa appointments for adoptions and for cases meeting certain emergency criteria also remain available.  For more information and instructions on requesting an emergency appointment, please visit https://mx.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/ciudad-juarez/visas-2/visaprocessing2021/

Immigrant visa emergency appointment requests will be considered only when the applicant will age out of his or her ability to qualify for derivative status, or in case of emergencies.
