Mexico City, Mexico, September 21, 2018 – The United States Embassy donated equipment worth $15,000 U.S. dollars to the Centro Nacional Modelo de Atención Investigación y Capacitación Gerontológico Arturo Mundet to improve services to residents and participants in the day program at the Center.
The donation ceremony was attended by, Lic. Héctor Antonio Uribe Cerón, Director of Humanitarian Assistance from the Secretariat of Foreign Relations (SRE), Lic. Oscar Alva Delgadillo, Director of International Security Cooperation at SRE, Lic. Jesus Naime Libien, National Director of the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF), Lic. Edgar Mauricio Acra Alva, Chief of Assistance and Social Integration from DIF, and Mr. Paul McKean, Humanitarian Assistance Officer at U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM).
Each representative spoke about the donation as a representation of the successful partnership between Mexico and the United States.
The Arturo Mundet Center has provided care to elderly people since 1940. The Center expanded in 2002 to include medical specialization, outpatient consultations, and additional training and research. This donation, funded by the USNORTHCOM Humanitarian Assistance program, includes specialized dental equipment, as well as electric beds for residents who have lost mobility.
