U.S. Consulate General participates in Agreement between the Government of Yucatan and Carolina Adoption Services

Consul General Sonya Tsiros attended a ceremony to sign an agreement between DIF Yucatan and North Carolina-based adoption agency Carolina Adoption Services at the Great Museum of the Mayan World in Merida.  The agreement will facilitate the adoption of Yucatecan children by U.S. citizens, in keeping with the Hague Convention on Inter-Country Adoptions.  This is the first agreement Carolina Adoption Services has signed with a Mexican state government, and both signatories are eager to begin their collaboration.

Sarita Blancarte de Zapata, President of DIF, attended the ceremony and presented birth certificates to families with newly adopted children.
