U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo closes early as a precaution

August 24, 2016 – Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.-  A suspicious substance was found in the non-immigrant Visa center at the U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

The substance was handled in accordance with established protocols. Appropriate U.S. and Mexican authorities are investigating.

Consulate General officers believe the substance does not pose health or safety risks, but out of an abundance of caution, operations were suspended early.

The Consulate will be open for business on its normal operating schedule tomorrow.
