As of January 4, 2021, the U.S. Consular Agency in Cancun is open Mon-Wed from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm for limited appointments available for non-emergency passport, and notarial services.  All appointments and openings are subject to change and cancellation based on local health conditions.  An appointment is required for all services such as U.S. passport applications, notarials, and other requests for in-person meetings. Please make an appointment by calling the office phone during normal office hours.  If you cannot find an open appointment and have urgent travel plans (within the next month) or another emergency need for a passport, please request an emergency appointment via email at ConAgencyCancun@state.gov.

Effective February 22, 2021, U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez has resumed limited appointments for routine passport services by appointment only.  Please click here to make an appointment for a passport service.  If you have an urgent need to travel and require an emergency passport, please send an email to CDJPassport@state.gov.  Do not come to the Consulate without an appointment.   To request an appointment for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), please send an email to CDJCRBA@state.gov.  To request a notary or other service, please email CDJSCS@state.gov.

  • The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City suspended routine appointments for U.S. passport, CRBA, and notary services from January 6 to January 15. Routine appointments for these services are currently available after January 18, though all appointments and openings are subject to change due to health and safety conditions.  If no appointments are available when you first check the online calendar, please keep checking the calendar for added and/or canceled appointments.  The Embassy continues to provide limited emergency consular services, including emergency passports and notarial services, to U.S. citizens by appointment only.  Email MexicoCityPassport@state.gov to request an emergency service.

Appointments for the following month become available at 4:00 pm CST on the first Thursday of every month.  For example, appointments for June 2021 will be available at 4:00 pm CST on Thursday, May 6.  This policy excludes holidays.  Due to the 2021 Easter holiday, May 2021 appointments will open at 4:00 pm on April 8, 2021.

The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta requires a pre-paid courier service waybill from Estafeta or Fedex only for the return of your passport book, passport card, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad.

At the time of your appointment with us, please bring a pre-paid, self-addressed courier service envelope and a label with a tracking number for delivery from Guadalajara to you. You should have one waybill for each product you are requesting.

Estafeta offers pre-paid envelope services at the Paradise Plaza Shopping Center in Nuevo Vallarta. This is not an endorsement of their services; this information is provided solely for your convenience.
