Surfing and taking care of the ocean with children in Tijuana

The US Consulate in Tijuana joined forces with Surfrider Foundation in Baja California and Proyecto Fronterizo de Educación Ambiental (Border Environmental Education Program) to conduct surfing clinics for children of the Boys and Girls Club of Tijuana and of the local foster homes “Eunime” and “La Promesa.” The goal of the surfing clinics was to raise ocean conservation awareness among children through surfing. The surfing clinics were held in Playas de Tijuana.

As part of the surf clinics, Proyecto Fronterizo de Educación Ambiental (Border Environmental Education Program) organized workshops for children about the water cycle and the Tijuana River Watershed. Kevin Meza, a mexican-american surfer  talked to the children about the importance of surfing and taking care of the ocean.
