UPDATE:

SECURITY ALERT – FALSE THREAT
Late in the afternoon US Law Enforcement received threat information against the US Consulate. Out of an abundance of caution, the Consulate moved to a shelter-in-place status. After further investigation, this threat was determined to be NOT CREDIBLE.

Location: Nuevo Laredo, Mexico

U.S. government employees have been instructed to shelter in place until further notice.  U.S. citizens should consult our travel advice to U.S. citizens for Tamaulipas, Mexico.

On March 16, 2022, the Department of State authorized the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and eligible family members from the U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo due to security conditions.

Actions To Take:

Avoid The Area.

Shelter In Place.

Notify friends and family of your safety.

Monitor local media for updates.
