Matamoros, Tamaulipas, August 24, 2015 — Angela Kerwin, a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, is the newly assigned Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Matamoros, Mexico
Ms. Kerwin is originally from Pennsylvania. She has served as a State Department diplomat at U.S. Embassies in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India. She also worked at the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington, D.C. for three years.
Angela Kerwin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law. She recently completed a Master’s of Science degree in Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle, PA.
Angela Kerwin is joined on her assignment to Matamoros by her 10 year-old son, Lucas. “I feel honored to return to Mexico. My first post in the Foreign Service was in Mexico City and I am thrilled to be back in one of my favorite countries. I look forward to working with leaders on both sides of the border to strengthen the already solid ties between the United States and Mexico.”
