More than 160 Children Received Christmas Presents Through Toys for Tots

To celebrate the holiday season, the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey joined its Marine Detachment, for the fourth consecutive year, to collect toys among the consulate community and give to children of the community. At an event held on December 20, more than 160 children from Ciudad de los Niños in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon received gifts.

Susana Bremer Uribe and Olivia Duran Santoyo, representatives of Ciudad de los Niños, hosted the event.

During the ceremony and on behalf of the Consul General, Ms. Myrna Ortiz-Kerr said, “As diplomats, we not only work here but we live and are part of this community. That is why we are pleased to be part of efforts of this nature that allow us to return a little to the community. We wish you all a Merry Christmas.”

Toys for Tots of the U.S. Marine Corps collects new toys every year and distributes them as Christmas gifts for children in the community. The first program began in 1947 in Los Angeles.

The U.S. Consulate General wishes all our friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2018. We remind the community that the Consulate will be closed Monday, December 25, 2017 and Monday, January 1. 2018
