Monterrey Consulate celebrates U.S. Independence Day in Saltillo

For the first time, the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey celebrated Independence Day in Saltillo, Coahuila. This was the first occasion in recent times, that the consulate commemorated this important event outside of Monterrey. During the event, which included distinguished guests from government, civil society, academics and private sector, Consul General Timothy Zuniga-Brown announced that the consulate has begun plans to launch an English language program in partnership with Tec de Monterrey Campus Saltillo to offer micro-scholarships to 25 youth from Coahuila. In addition, he congratulated four students of Universidad de Carolina in Saltillo who were selected for the program Jovenes en Accion sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Public Education. Thank you to our friends in Coahuila for the warm welcome! This year, the Consulate General will be celebrating its Independence Day twice, in Saltillo and in Monterrey.
