Monterrey, NL March 30, 2020 — The U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey provides the following information for U.S. citizens:
Authorities of the state of Nuevo Leon are conducting mandatory health screenings of travelers arriving from the United States. Currently, this affects primarily passenger buses but could be expanded to other modes of transport.
U.S. travelers should expect significant delays and face the possibility of being returned to the United States or being kept in quarantine in Mexico.
We reiterate the Department of State’s March 19, 2020, global health advisory advising U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.
We invite U.S. citizens to subscribe to the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) https://step.state.gov/
