U.S. Department of State and ESPN/W Global Sports Mentoring Program, the flagship component of the Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative, pairs emerging women leaders from around the world with top American female executives in the sports industry.
ISPI is an annual open competition that allows U.S. public and private non-profit organizations to submit proposals for exchange projects designed to reach underserved youth and/or their coaches/sports administrators who manage youth sports programs.The International Sports Programming Initiative uses sports to help underserved youth around the world develop important leadership skills, achieve academic success, promote tolerance and respect for diversity, and positively contribute to their home and host communities.
Sport for Community: Global Sports Mentoring Program (S4C) promotes access and opportunity for people with disabilities through sport. S4C is a month-long, immersive mentorship where international emerging leaders working in disability/adapted sports are matched with leading professionals from some of America’s top organizations in this field.
The Sports Envoy Program is comprised of elite American athletes, coaches, and educators who travel abroad on short-term (7-10 day) sports exchanges. Sports Envoy programs are designed to reach underserved communities, inspire youth and coaches alike, with stories of resilience, teamwork, and education. Sports Envoys lead sports clinics, speak at universities, and meet with senior level officials to discuss the role of sport in improving individual lives and transforming societies.
The Sports Visitor Program uses sports to engage target audiences to support U.S. foreign policy goals while promoting American values both on and off the field. Among other policy goals, programs promote leadership and conflict resolution skills and a deeper understanding of U.S. diversity and our country’s political, economic, social, and cultural perspectives. The program offers a tailored way to engage priority audiences, especially emerging voices and traditionally underserved communities, those who do not speak English, and those targeted by extremist propaganda.
