Demonstration Alert – U.S. Consulate General Tijuana

Location:  Mexican Immigration Building (Instituto Nacional de Migracion, Boulevard Insurgentes 16000), U.S. Consulate General, and locations in between.

Event:  The U.S. Consulate General advises U.S. citizens of a march taking place today, December 11, which is expected at the U.S. Consulate.  U.S. citizens should be aware of recurring demonstrations related to the migrant situation in Tijuana and other parts of Baja California, some of which have resulted in violence.  Demonstrations taking place near U.S. Ports of Entry have the potential to impact operations, possibly resulting in long delays or temporary closures.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
  •  Monitor the CBP website or CBP San Diego on Twitter for information on border wait times and operations.
