On May 24-25, 2016, the U.S. Consulate General in Hermosillo held the first annual Consular Expo in the state of Sinaloa in an effort to reach the community there to provide information on a wide range of consular services. The event was held in conjunction with Mexico partner agencies, Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE), Registro Civil de Sinaloa, Education USA Sinaloa, Servicio Nacional del Empleo (SNE) and Educación Pública y Cultura de Sinaloa. At the Expo, attendees had an opportunity to speak to representatives from Nonimmigrant and Immigrant Visas, American Citizen Services and Federal Benefits about the variety of services provided by the U.S. Consulate. On May 24, the Expo was held in Culiacan at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa, where staff assisted over 500 attendees on a variety of topics. On May 25, the Consular Expo was held at Universidad de Occidente in Los Mochis and reached over 600 people. The success of the Consular Expo in Sinaloa highlights the importance of people-to-people outreach in consular services. USCG Hermosillo will continue to enhance consular outreach programming to reach the community in Sinaloa year-round.
