Consul General Erika Zielke

Consul General Erika Zielke, a career member of the Foreign Service, assumed charge at U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo in August 2023. Previously she served at various U.S.
diplomatic and consular posts, including Islamabad, Pakistan as the Deputy Director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement section, and Tel Aviv, Israel, as the head of the
Human Resources unit. Her other overseas assignments include Surabaya, Indonesia; Kabul, Afghanistan; and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, where she is pleased to return.

Her prior domestic assignments at the Department of State include the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and in the Executive Secretariat where she facilitated the global engagements of the
Secretary. Prior to her diplomatic service, Consul General Zielke was a Captain in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps and a civil servant at the U.S. Department of Defense.

She holds a Master of Arts in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, a Master of Arts in international relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Arts in German and European studies from Vanderbilt University. She speaks Spanish, German, and Indonesian. Consul General Zielke is accompanied in Nuevo Laredo by her husband and son.
