Brianna Powers is the Consul General in Matamoros, Mexico. Previously, she was the Director of the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Banja Luka, leading U.S. forward engagement in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2020 to 2023. Consul General Powers has also served in Bern, Switzerland; Brasilia, Brazil; Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Monterrey, Mexico; and in various offices in Washington.
Consul General Powers holds a B.A. in History and Spanish from Duke University. She speaks Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. Brianna is married and has two sons. She is very happy to return to Mexico where she began her diplomatic career.
