Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Keys to Advancing Your Career in Law

As part of International Women’s Month, the United States Consulate General in Monterey in coordination with the University of Monterrey, Abogadas MX and the Mexican Bar Association of Nuevo Leon, held a conference titled, “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Keys to Advancing Your Career in Law” on March 9 at the University of Monterrey.  The speakers were distinguished women lawyers including Mónica Bichara, Legal and Corporate Security Director of Home Depot Mexico, Valeria Chapa Garza, Vice President and Attorney General, Latin America, Honeywell International Inc., Myrna Elia García Barrera, UDEM Teacher and Equity Gender and protection of vulnerable groups of the Judicial Branch of the State, and Karla Samaniego, Coordinator of the Metropolitan University of Monterrey Law School. The event was inaugurated by Consul General Timothy Zúñiga-Brown, moderated by Jessica Robles and organized by Amber Oliva, both Vice Consuls of the Consulate. More than 70 law students and young professionals in the field participated in the event.
