Ana Teresa Fernández
Tampico, Mexico, native Ana Teresa Fernández studied in California and Switzerland and is known for her ability to make powerful statements. She draws inspiration from “seismic seconds” — the seconds that you know change your life. To Fernández, her role as an artist is to create those brief life-altering moments that make people think. More specifically, to challenge what we take as a given. A significant portion of work is concentrated on the intersectionality of place, identity, and community; thus, encouraging viewers to embrace a more open and inclusive world where we do not fear our neighbors.
