Passport Renewal/Replacement: The U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara accepts DS-82 and DS-5504 U.S. passport applications without an appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., except holidays. The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta will begin accepting DS-82 and DS-5504 applications without an appointment on July 15, 2021 on Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., except holidays.
This walk-in program is for:
- Adults renewing a 10-year validity passport using form DS-82. Click here for eligibility requirements.
- Anyone replacing a one-year validity emergency passport (issued within the last year) using form DS-5504.
If you are an adult renewing a 10-year validity passport, you must bring:
- Your most recent, undamaged 10-year validity passport and a photocopy.
- Form DS-82(printed, signed, and complete)
- A new color photo (5×5 cm) for a U.S. passport.
- Passport fee of $110 U.S. dollars or equivalent in Mexican pesos, in cash or credit card (BBVA and Banco Coppel cards not accepted).
- FedEx delivery fee (see below for details).
If you are replacing a one-year validity emergency passport within one year of its issuance, you must bring:
- Your still-valid emergency passport and a photocopy.
- Form DS-5504 (
printed, signed, and complete) - A new color photo (5×5 cm) for a U.S. passport.
- Letter authorizing free replacement within one year if you have it.
- FedEx delivery fee (see below for details).
Passport delivery: If applying in Guadalajara you must bring the FedEx delivery fee (credit card or Mexican pesos, ranging from MXP $89 to MXP $268) and if applying in Vallarta you must bring a pre-paid FedEx waybill (use the sender’s address information here).
It takes 3 to 4 weeks (applying in Guadalajara) or 4 to 5 weeks (applying in Vallarta) to receive your new passport. You cannot use this program to request an emergency passport for emergency travel. To request an appointment for an emergency passport, please submit this form.
Reminder: Do not pay a third party for passport appointment services.
