38 students from the city of Merida celebrated Thanksgiving with Consular Section Chief Suzanne McGuire and other U.S. Consulate representatives, as well as teachers and the Director of the Faculty of Education.
During the event, the English Access Program students enjoyed a traditional meal consisting of roasted turkey and many other dishes. These teens are outstanding students who were selected to participate in the U.S. government-sponsored Access Scholarship program to study English at the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan.
In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is a special date when families and friends gather to share a traditional meal and give thanks for the good things in life. This was a wonderful opportunity for U.S. diplomats to share this beautiful tradition with youths of Merida.
