Ambassador E. Anthony Wayne hosted a reception for members of the U.S. and Mexican air forces to celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the founding of the United States Air Force. The Mexican delegation was headed by General de Division Carlos Antonio Rodriguez Munguia, Commander of the Mexican Air Force. Also in attendance were surviving members of the Mexican Air Force’s 201st Aztec Eagles Squadron, who served alongside U.S. forces in the Philippines in World War II.
The senior representative from the U.S. Air Force, Brigadier General David W. Hicks, Vice Commander of Air Forces Northern, gave the keynote address that thanked Mexican counterparts for their ongoing cooperation and support. Ambassador Wayne and General Hicks presented General Rodriguez Munguia with a plaque commemorating the cooperation between the two air forces. Entertainment for the anniversary reception was provided by the Big Band Jazz of Mexico.
