50th Anniversary of the Physical Delivery of the Chamizal

On October 28, authorities from the United States and Mexico held a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the physical delivery of the Chamizal in Ciudad Juarez. The ceremony was held at the Benito Juarez monument located in the Chamizal park.

The Consul General of the United States in Ciudad Juarez Daria L. Darnell attended the ceremony and highlighted the diplomatic success of the Chamizal Convention “that ushered a new era in bilateral cooperation between our two countries.”

On October 28, 1967, the presidents of the United States and Mexico, Lyndon B. Johnson and Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, met in the Paso del Norte region of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, to formalize the official delivery of the Chamizal.
